Deliver Us from Evil (2014) follows veteran NYPD Sergeant Ralph Sarchie, who is investigating a series of bizarre, disturbing, and seemingly unrelated crimes in the Bronx. As the investigation deepens, Sarchie realizes these gruesome incidents transcend normal criminal behavior and point toward a sinister, supernatural force. Struggling with his own faith and personal demons, Sarchie reluctantly partners with Father Mendoza, an unconventional Jesuit priest trained in the rites of exorcism, to combat the demonic possessions terrorizing the city.

The duo uncovers a connection to a group of U.S. Marines who encountered an ancient evil inside a cave during a deployment in Iraq. This malevolent entity has returned with them, possessing a soldier named Santino and spreading its influence. As the demonic threat escalates, Sarchie’s own family is targeted, forcing him to confront his past sins and embrace spiritual warfare. The film culminates in a grueling, high-stakes exorcism inside a police interrogation room, where Sarchie must fully commit to his faith to save his family and cleanse the possessed soldier.

Based on the real-life accounts of NYPD Sergeant Ralph Sarchie and his book ‘Beware the Night’, the film masterfully blends gritty, realistic police procedural elements with classic supernatural horror. Directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the movie delivers intense atmosphere, visceral scares, and strong performances from Eric Bana, Edgar Ramírez, and Sean Harris.
