Wicker

Wicker is an upcoming fantasy romance-comedy film directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, adapted from Ursula Wills-Jones’s acclaimed short story ‘The Wicker Husband’. The film stars Academy Award winner Olivia Colman as a lonely, ostracized fisherwoman living in a conservative, narrow-minded seaside village. Tired of the constant ridicule and isolation from her neighbors, she decides to take matters into her own hands by commissioning a custom-made, life-sized wicker husband, portrayed by Dev Patel, to accompany her.

This bizarre and unconventional arrangement quickly turns the quiet village upside down. As the wicker husband seemingly brings a gentle, loving presence into her life, the local townsfolk transition from mockery to intense jealousy and suspicion. The narrative explores deep themes of loneliness, societal judgment, and the extraordinary lengths one will go to find companionship and self-worth in a judgmental community.
