Cabin Fever

Directed by Eli Roth in his feature directorial debut, Cabin Fever (2002) is a seminal body-horror comedy that follows five college graduates—Paul, Karen, Bert, Marcy, and Jeff—who retreat to a remote cabin in the woods to celebrate their graduation. Their vacation quickly turns into a nightmare when they encounter a hermit infected with a gruesome, flesh-eating bacteria. After accidentally killing the man and contaminating the local water supply, the group unknowingly exposes themselves to the highly contagious and devastating virus.

As the horrific symptoms of the flesh-eating disease begin to manifest, starting with Karen, panic and paranoia consume the group. The bonds of friendship rapidly disintegrate as the uninfected members attempt to quarantine the sick, leading to extreme acts of cruelty and self-preservation. Their desperate attempts to seek help from the eccentric and hostile local townspeople only exacerbate their isolation, culminating in a grim, chaotic struggle for survival where the fear of infection is just as deadly as the virus itself.
