Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) – Story, Cast, Romance & Ending

Set in the vibrant small town of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, the story follows Bitti Sharma, a rebellious, free-spirited young woman who refuses to conform to traditional Indian societal norms. Frustrated by continuous rejected marriage proposals and her parents’ anxiety over her future, Bitti decides to run away from home. While waiting at the train station, she picks up a novel titled ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and is astonished to find that the lead character is an exact mirror of herself, making her feel truly understood for the very first time.

Determined to meet the author who wrote someone so remarkably like her, Bitti seeks out Chirag Dubey, a local printing press owner who distributed the book. In reality, Chirag is the secret author of the novel, having penned it years prior to cope with his own heartbreak, using the name of his timid friend Pritam Vidrohi as a front. Smitten by Bitti’s charm, Chirag decides to track down the real Pritam and transform him into an arrogant, swaggering heartthrob to turn Bitti off, while Chirag secretly positions himself as her hero.

The plan backfires when Pritam’s new persona works too well, causing Bitti and her family to fall for him. As comedic misunderstandings, fake rivalries, and emotional conflicts peak, Chirag is forced to confront the webs of deceit he built. In the emotional climax, Chirag confesses his true identity and love for Bitti, leading to a heartwarming resolution where Bitti recognizes his deep sincerity and affection.
