STORYLINE
Exodus: Gods and Kings is an epic biblical drama directed by Ridley Scott that reimagines the classic story of Moses. Raised as a brother to the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II, Moses lives a life of privilege and military renown. However, his world is shattered when he discovers his true Hebrew heritage. After being exiled by a suspicious and power-hungry Ramesses, Moses settles into a quiet life in Midian, only to be called upon by God through a burning bush to return to Egypt and liberate his people from centuries of brutal enslavement.
Upon his return, Moses confronts Ramesses, demanding the freedom of the Hebrews. When the Pharaoh refuses, Egypt is struck by a series of devastating plagues, ranging from rivers of blood to the death of the firstborn. These supernatural catastrophes force Ramesses to relent, but his grief quickly turns to rage, prompting him to pursue the fleeing Hebrews with his formidable army.
The film culminates in a spectacular and harrowing sequence at the Red Sea, where Moses guides his people through the parting waters while Ramesses’ forces close in. This visually stunning retelling explores themes of faith, brotherhood, and identity, blending historical grandeur with intense action sequences and powerful performances from Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.
