Hijack 1971

Hijack 1971 is an intense aviation disaster thriller based on the harrowing true story of the Korean Air F27 hijacking attempt. The narrative follows Tae-in, a former South Korean Air Force fighter pilot who was demoted to a commercial co-pilot role after refusing to shoot down a hijacked passenger plane heading to North Korea years prior. On a routine flight from Sokcho to Seoul, the aircraft is violently seized by a desperate young hijacker named Yong-dae, who detonates a homemade bomb and demands the plane be flown across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

With the captain blinded and severely injured by the blast, Tae-in must take control of the cockpit under extreme duress. He faces a heart-wrenching dilemma: comply with the hijacker’s demands to save the passengers in the short term, or risk everything to prevent the aircraft from crossing into hostile territory. The film masterfully builds claustrophobic tension inside the cabin as the crew and passengers band together to outmaneuver their captor while military fighter jets scramble to intercept them.
