Humint

Humint is an upcoming South Korean espionage action thriller directed by renowned filmmaker Ryoo Seung-wan. Set against the frigid backdrop of Vladivostok, Russia, the film explores a high-stakes clash between South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers and North Korean State Security agents. As illegal cross-border crime syndicates expand their influence, human intelligence (HUMINT) operations become the ultimate weapon in a tense war of deception and survival.

The narrative centers on Chief Cho (Zo In-sung), a veteran NIS agent deployed to Vladivostok to unravel a clandestine trafficking network. His mission places him on a direct collision course with Park Gun (Park Jeong-min), a cold and calculated officer from the North Korean State Department of Security, and Hwang Chi-seong (Park Hae-joon), a North Korean consul stationed in the city. Complicating matters further is Chae Seon-hwa (Nana), a worker at a North Korean restaurant who becomes a pivotal informant trapped between competing factions.

Building on director Ryoo Seung-wan’s mastery of intense kinetic action—previously showcased in hits like The Berlin File, Escape from Mogadishu, and Smugglers—Humint examines the psychological weight, moral ambiguities, and tragic rivalries inherent to intelligence operations in the Korean peninsula’s ongoing cold war.
