STORYLINE
Mar Gaye Oye Loko is a Punjabi-language fantasy comedy film directed by Simerjit Singh and written by Gippy Grewal. The plot follows Titu, a simple and good-hearted young man who is deeply in love with a local girl named Simran. However, Simran is secretly infatuated with Gill Bai, a local bad-boy figure with an intimidating reputation. Titu’s life takes a tragic and unexpected turn when he is mistakenly shot and killed by a rival gangster whose actual target was Gill Bai.
Upon arriving in the realm of the dead, Yamraj and his chief assistant realize a major administrative mistake has occurred: Titu was brought to heaven before his allotted lifespan was over. Realizing the error, Yamraj agrees to send Titu’s soul back to Earth. Unfortunately, Titu’s earthly body has already been cremated by his family, leaving him without a physical form to return to. To resolve this, Yamraj places Titu’s soul into the body of Gill Bai, who is currently lying comatose in a hospital.
Waking up inside his rival’s physical body, Titu must adapt to living Gill Bai’s chaotic life while attempting to pursue Simran without revealing his true identity. The narrative unfolds through a series of absurd misunderstandings, witty punchlines, and comedic situations as Titu attempts to fix Gill’s terrible reputation and win the love of his life.
