Mastaney

Set in 1739 during Nader Shah’s infamous invasion of Delhi, Mastaney explores a pivotal era when the Persian tyrant’s invincible army plundered the city, only to be repeatedly ambushed by elusive Sikh warriors. Unable to capture the actual rebels, Nader Shah demands to see these legendary fighters. In response, local intermediaries hire a group of ordinary, easy-going street performers and commoners to impersonate the Sikh warriors in exchange for money.

As the group prepares for the charade, they delve deep into understanding who these warriors truly are. Through their research and immersion, the performers discover the profound spiritual strength, selflessness, and unmatched bravery that define the Khalsa spirit. What began as a deceptive ploy quickly turns into an internal awakening for each of the men.

Ultimately, when forced to stand before tyrannical power, the fake performers choose honor over deceit. Transformed by the noble ethos of the Sikhs, they embrace true courage, rising up to defend the oppressed and confronting Nader Shah’s formidable forces in an epic struggle for justice and freedom.
