STORYLINE
No Time to Die (2021) serves as the emotional and high-stakes conclusion to Daniel Craig’s five-film arc as James Bond. Having left active service following the events of Spectre, Bond is enjoying a quiet retirement in Jamaica. His tranquility is short-lived when his old CIA ally, Felix Leiter, appears requesting help to rescue a kidnapped scientist who was working on Project Heracles—a targeted nanotech bioweapon originally developed under MI6 supervision.
Reentering the world of high-octane espionage, Bond travels from Cuba to Norway and an isolated island base between Japan and Russia. He crosses paths with Nomi, the new agent assigned the 007 designation, and uncovers a massive plot orchestrated by Lyutsifer Safin, a reclusive villain seeking revenge against Spectre and humanity at large. Safin’s scheme personalizes the conflict by entangling Bond’s estranged love, Dr. Madeleine Swann, and exposing hidden truths about her past.
Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film combines groundbreaking physical stunts, slick gunplay, and rich character drama. In a climactic showdown on Safin’s fortified island, Bond makes the ultimate sacrifice to destroy the facility and ensure the bioweapon cannot endanger Madeleine and their young daughter, bringing a tragic yet heroic close to Craig’s legacy as the iconic British secret agent.
