STORYLINE
Directed by Mark Anthony Green in his feature directorial debut, Opus is an atmospheric psychological horror-thriller produced by A24. The film follows Ariel Ecto, an ambitious young music journalist who lands the assignment of a lifetime: interviewing the legendary pop superstar Alfred Moretti. Moretti had mysteriously vanished from the public eye at the height of his career decades prior, leaving behind a mythical legacy and unresolved secrets. When he abruptly invites Ariel to his isolated compound to document his covert comeback album, what begins as a monumental career breakthrough quickly devolves into a nightmare.
As Ariel ventures deeper into Moretti’s surreal, insular estate, she uncovers unsettling rituals and a fanatical cult of personality controlling the artist’s world. Surrounded by an enigmatic inner circle and sinister occurrences, she begins to suspect that Moretti’s musical genius comes with a horrific price. Ariel is forced to navigate psychological terror and dark obsession, racing to unravel the disturbing mystery behind the pop icon’s resurrection before becoming trapped in his twisted web forever.
