The Archies

Set in the fictional Anglo-Indian hill station of Riverdale in 1964, The Archies follows the vibrant lives of teenagers Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, Reggie Mantle, Ethel Muggs, and Dilton Doiley. As they navigate high school romance, friendship dynamics, and their shared passion for rock ‘n’ roll, their peaceful life is threatened by ambitious urban development.

The narrative conflict arises when Veronica’s father, wealthy businessman Hiram Lodge, plans to demolish Green Park—the heart of the town—to construct a commercial hotel plaza. Devastated by the prospective loss of their cherished green space and historic town heritage, Archie and his friends decide to take action, organizing a community petition and musical protest to preserve their town’s identity.

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film functions as an official live-action Indian adaptation of the iconic Archie Comics series. Through nostalgic 1960s musical numbers, youth activism, and coming-of-age storytelling, the gang learns vital lessons about environmental conservation, civic duty, and standing up for community values.
