The Irishman (2019) – Story, Cast, Crime & Ending

In the 1950s, Philadelphia truck driver Frank Sheeran begins working as a hitman for mob boss Russell Bufalino and his Pennsylvania crime family. As Sheeran climbs the ranks of organized crime, he earns a reputation for absolute reliability and ruthlessness, becoming a key enforcer in the lucrative underworld while maintaining a quiet family life.

Russell introduces Frank to Jimmy Hoffa, the powerful and charismatic leader of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Frank quickly forms a deep bond with Hoffa, acting as his bodyguard, confidant, and enforcer. However, escalating tensions between Hoffa, rival union leaders, and mob leadership force Frank into a devastating conflict of loyalties that ultimately leads to Hoffa’s notorious disappearance.

Decades later, an aging Frank Sheeran looks back from a nursing home on his long life of crime, reflecting on the heavy moral cost, lost family relationships, and the tragic betrayal of his closest friend. Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Irishman is a somber masterwork on loyalty, aging, and guilt.
