STORYLINE
Obsession (2026) is a supernatural horror thriller directed by Curry Barker. The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. Mixing psychological horror with supernatural elements, the movie explores how a single selfish wish can spiral into fear, violence, and emotional destruction. Rather than relying only on jump scares, Obsession builds tension through its unsettling atmosphere and disturbing character transformations.
Story
The story follows Bear, a shy young man who secretly loves his close friend and co-worker, Nikki. Although he dreams of being with her, he never finds the courage to confess his feelings. Every failed attempt leaves him more frustrated and convinced that he has lost his chance forever.
One day, Bear comes across a mysterious object known as the One Wish Willow. Believing it to be nothing more than a strange novelty item, he makes a heartfelt wish for Nikki to love him more than anyone else in the world. To his surprise, the wish comes true almost immediately. At first, everything seems perfect. Nikki suddenly becomes deeply affectionate, caring, and completely devoted to Bear.
However, the dream relationship quickly turns into a nightmare.
Instead of genuine love, Nikki develops an unhealthy and terrifying obsession. She refuses to let Bear spend time with anyone else and becomes increasingly possessive. Her personality changes dramatically as the supernatural power behind the wish slowly consumes her mind. What once appeared to be romance transforms into fear, jealousy, and unpredictable violence.
As Nikki’s obsession grows stronger, Bear realizes that his wish has destroyed the woman he truly cared about. Friends who try to help are drawn into the nightmare, and every attempt to stop the curse only makes the situation worse. Bear desperately searches for answers about the mysterious One Wish Willow, hoping to reverse the wish before more innocent people are hurt.
The film gradually reveals that every wish granted by the Willow comes with a terrible price. Instead of fulfilling dreams, it twists human desires into destructive consequences. Bear must face the painful truth that trying to force love through supernatural means can never create real happiness.
Throughout the story, Obsession balances psychological suspense with brutal horror sequences. The tension continues to build as Bear struggles with guilt, responsibility, and the horrifying realization that he may have created the monster threatening everyone around him. The movie keeps viewers guessing until its final act, delivering several shocking moments without losing focus on its emotional core.
