Army of the Dead (2021) – Story, Cast, Action & Ending

Set in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas walled off from the rest of the world due to a devastating zombie outbreak, the story follows Scott Ward, a former mercenary approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka. Tanaka offers Ward a life-changing opportunity: retrieve $200 million from a secure vault beneath the strip before the United States government tactical-nukes the entire city. Ward accepts the challenge and assembles a diverse team of experts, including a brilliant safecracker, a cynical helicopter pilot, and seasoned combat veterans, to execute the ultimate heist.

Upon entering the quarantined zone, the team discovers that the undead are not mindless shamblers but organized, intelligent, and fast-moving creatures known as ‘Alphas,’ led by a formidable king and queen. As they navigate the treacherous ruins of Las Vegas, internal betrayals, hidden corporate agendas, and a rapidly ticking clock complicate their mission. The stakes rise dramatically when Ward’s estranged daughter, Kate, joins the team to rescue a stranded friend, forcing the group to fight both the relentless undead horde and time itself.

The climax features high-octane action sequences as the vault is breached, but the escape plan quickly falls apart. With the nuclear strike imminent, the team suffers devastating losses while fighting off the enraged Alpha zombies. The film concludes with a desperate helicopter escape, a tragic final confrontation between father and daughter, and a chilling twist ending that hints at the global spread of the virus.
