Clayface

Clayface is an upcoming feature film project centered on the iconic DC Comics supervillain of the same name. Primarily known as one of Batman’s most tragic and formidable adversaries, the character of Basil Karlo (or Matt Hagen) is set to be explored in a dark, character-driven narrative. The project has garnered significant industry attention, particularly with acclaimed horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan pitching a horror-leaning, suspenseful take on the shapeshifting monster to DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The plot is expected to delve deep into the tragic origins of a disgraced actor who mutates into a clay-like, malleable monstrosity. Emphasizing psychological horror and crime thriller elements, the film aims to explore themes of lost identity, obsession, and the monstrous lengths an individual will go to for fame and survival. Depending on its final production path, the project is rumored to either stand alone as a DC Elseworlds entry or potentially tie into Matt Reeves’ expanding cinematic universe.

As a highly anticipated adaptation, Clayface promises to deliver a unique blend of comic book action, suspense, and body horror. With global distribution handled by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is expected to release in multiple languages worldwide, including English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, catering to a massive international fanbase eager for a dark, villain-centric cinematic experience.
