Matchbox: The Movie

“Matchbox: The Movie” is an upcoming live-action feature film produced by Mattel Films, Skydance Media, and Apple Original Films. Directed by acclaimed action filmmaker Sam Hargrave (known for the Extraction franchise) and starring John Cena, the film is a high-octane cinematic adaptation of the legendary die-cast toy brand that has captured the imaginations of generations since 1953. The project aims to translate the thrill of miniature vehicular adventures into a massive, real-world action-adventure spectacle.

The narrative centers on an elite group of tactical drivers and specialists who operate advanced, custom-built vehicles to counter a highly sophisticated global threat. Blending intense espionage, death-defying stunts, and cutting-edge automotive technology, the film explores themes of teamwork, precision, and resilience under extreme pressure. With Hargrave’s signature visceral action choreography, the movie promises to deliver groundbreaking car chases and practical stunt work.

As a major tentpole release, “Matchbox: The Movie” is designed for a global audience, featuring extensive multi-audio dubs in languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Spanish, and French alongside its original English release. The film represents a key expansion of Mattel’s cinematic universe, bridging nostalgic toy properties with modern, high-budget action filmmaking to appeal to both long-time collectors and new action cinema enthusiasts.
