The Point Men

The Point Men is a gripping high-stakes action thriller inspired by the harrowing true events of the 2007 South Korean hostage crisis in Afghanistan, where 23 South Korean missionaries were captured by Taliban militants. When news of the abduction reaches Seoul, the South Korean government dispatches Jung Jae-ho, a diplomatic negotiator renowned for his adherence to protocol, to secure the safe release of the citizens before the extremists execute them.

Upon arriving in Afghanistan, Jae-ho is paired with Park Dae-sik, a seasoned National Intelligence Service (NIS) operative who has spent years working in the Middle East. Unlike the rule-bound diplomat, Dae-sik operates on instinct, street-smart tactics, and dangerous local connections. As political tensions flare and foreign diplomatic avenues collapse one by one, the clashing duo must put aside their ideological differences and navigate an unforgiving landscape of warlords, deception, and escalating violence.

Directed by Yim Soon-rye and featuring powerhouse performances by Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin, the film combines heart-pounding suspense with intense hostage negotiation dynamics. With the help of Kasim, a quirky local interpreter, the team fights against impossible odds and strict deadlines in a race against time to save innocent lives.
