Raabta (2017) – Story, Cast, Romance & Ending

Shiv Kakkar is a fun-loving Punjabi banker who relocates to Budapest for work alongside his close friend. There, he crosses paths with Saira Singh, a talented chocolatier haunted by recurring nightmares of drowning. The duo experiences an instant, inexplicable connection—a profound ‘raabta’—that draws them together. Despite Saira already being in a relationship, she finds herself irresistibly pulled toward Shiv, and the two quickly fall deeply in love.

Their modern-day romance is abruptly disrupted by the arrival of Zakir ‘Zack’ Merchant, a wealthy and eccentric businessman who harbors an obsessive fixation on Saira. Zack kidnaps Saira and takes her to his secluded island, where the truth of their connection is finally unveiled. It is revealed that 800 years ago, Saira was Princess Saiba, Shiv was the fearless warrior Jilaan, and Zack was the ruthless commander Muqaat. In that past life, Muqaat murdered Jilaan, and Saiba drowned herself, leaving their love story tragically unfinished.

In the present day, Zack attempts to force Saira into marriage, mirroring the tragic events of their past. Shiv arrives on the island to rescue Saira, leading to a violent confrontation. Unlike their previous incarnation, Shiv and Saira fight back against fate, ultimately defeating Zack and breaking the centuries-old cycle of tragedy to secure their happily ever after in the modern world.
