Directed by visionary filmmaker Robert Eggers, The Northman is an epic Viking revenge saga set in 10th-century Scandinavia. The film follows Prince Amleth, a young Norse warrior whose life is shattered when his father, King Aurvandill, is assassinated by his uncle Fjölnir. After watching his uncle seize the kingdom and kidnap his mother, Queen Gudrún, Amleth escapes by boat, swearing an oath to avenge his father, save his mother, and slay his uncle. Along the journey, he connects with Olga, an enslaved Slavic woman with strong mystical talents. Together, they stage a campaign of terrifying supernatural psychological warfare against Fjölnir’s household, slowly dismantling his enemy’s life from the inside.

As Amleth draws closer to his ultimate retribution, he uncovers disturbing truths regarding his parents’ marriage and his mother’s true allegiance, throwing his lifelong mission into moral complexity. Driven by fate, honor, and bloodshed, Amleth must navigate devastating personal betrayals and forge a path toward a harrowing final battle at the gates of Hel.
