Werewolf by Night (2022) – Story, Cast, Horror & Ending

Following the death of the legendary monster hunter Ulysses Bloodstone, a secretive cabal of elite hunters gathers at the Bloodstone Temple for a deadly competition to determine their new leader. Overseen by Ulysses’ widow, Verussa, the hunters are tasked with slaying a captured creature released into the temple’s labyrinth to retrieve the powerful Bloodstone relic attached to its hide. Among the competitors are Jack Russell, a disguised werewolf with ulterior motives, and Elsa Bloodstone, Ulysses’ estranged daughter who seeks to claim her rightful inheritance.

Inside the maze, Jack seeks out the monster, who is actually his gentle friend Ted (Man-Thing). Jack forms a temporary alliance with Elsa to safely break Ted out of the arena. Although they succeed in freeing Ted, Verussa and her remaining hunters capture Jack and Elsa. Using the magical powers of the Bloodstone, Verussa subjects Jack to an intense spell that forcibly triggers his violent werewolf transformation, intending for him to kill Elsa inside a cage.

However, the transformed Jack breaks free, turning his wrath against Verussa’s guards and slaughtering the hunters while recognizing Elsa and sparing her life. Ted returns to the temple to finish off Verussa, burning her to ash and rescuing Elsa, who officially inherits the temple and the Bloodstone. The special concludes in full color as Jack wakes up in his human form alongside Ted in the countryside, celebrating their survival.
